Default Pray for The Peace Of Jerusalem

Imagine, Our LORD 'WEEPING' over a city, that is, the City of Jerusalem.
Thousands of years ago, GOD Himself chose Jerusalem, Israel as the City to place His Name there. (see: II Chronicles 6:6).
Is it any wonder that we read in Psalm 137: 5-6, "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee (Jerusalem), let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy".

'GOD THE FATHER, SON, HOLY SPIRIT'
GOD The Father CHOSE Jerusalem (II Chronicles 6:6).
GOD The Son CRIED over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41).
GOD The Holy Spirit CONFIRMED His Word in Jerusalem (Acts 1:4 & Acts 2:1-5).
With these few thoughts from Holy Writ, do you 'wonder' why we find in Psalm 122:6,
"PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM".
In case you would like the pronunciation of these words in Hebrew,
"SHA-ALU SHALOM YIRUSHALAYIM".
The beginning word, 'SHA-ALU' means 'TO ASK', that is, ask The Owner, Protector and Redeemer of The City of Jerusalem, that He would bring Shalom (Peace) to the Place, the People, through The Prince of Peace (Our LORD Jesus Christ) !
WHY SHOULD YOU, WHY SHOULD I ?
Why should you "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem", and what benefit is there in so doing ?
First of all as we complete the reading of Psalm 122:6, we find that The LORD has promised, that (you and I) shall "prosper" that love thee (Jerusalem).
The Hebrew word for 'Prosper' is SHALAV to be at rest, tranquil, secure, successful, happy etc.
How marvellous is our recompense as we 'faithfully' remember to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem".
Furthermore, to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem" is in keeping with the command of GOD that we (you and I) need to 'ASK' The LORD, that He would:
1) Bring Shalom (Peace) to the Place - Jerusalem, Israel.
2) Bring Shalom (Peace) to the People (Jewish) in Jerusalem and throughout the world. (see: Romans 10:1),
"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to GOD for Israel (the Jewish people in Jerusalem and world wide) is, that they might be saved".
3) Bring Shalom (Peace) through The Prince of Peace (The LORD Jesus Christ) as He comes again. (see: Revelation 22:20).
"EVEN SO, COME, LORD JESUS"
Therefore, as you OBEY The LORD in praying 'for the peace of Jerusalem' you actually are ASKING The LORD to:
RESTORE - REDEEM - RETURN
Restore The Land of Israel, Redeem the Jewish people, and Return for His own through the Revelation of our Messiah, The LORD Jesus Christ.
"SHA-ALU SHALOM YIRUSHALAYIM"
Amen and Amen

God Bless you for your Prayer for Jerusalem. The 3 way split of this city (Christians; Islam; and Jews) needs to be united in the name of the True God. When the Lord Jesus Christ comes it will be accomplished. We Saints need to Pray for Peace till He Comes again. Blessing to all who will unit with us in Praying for Jerusalem. ODIE

I understand that Jerusalem has been studied historically since 1946, and is the actual location of the Garden of Eden. Thank you for the valuable information. I copied it for my own prayer time with GOD. I understand the Hebrew interpretation of the bible is an entirely different and deeper interpretation of GOD's saving and revelation knowledge. And I thought studying the English version was tough!

Has anyone ever asked you to pray for them, but they did not specify why they made the request? Have you ever asked someone to pray for you, without specifying your needs? Scripture puts us in a prayer position concerning Jerusalem, but you know what? We are not asked to pray for Jerusalem. We are told to pray for Jerusalem, and there is a difference in being asked and being told.
To ask implies no more than a statement of one's desire to request something of a friend. Told is the past participle of tell, and assumes that one has been ordered or directed to do something. In God's Word we are told to Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem." We are not asked to do so.

Where are we told to pray for Jerusalem, and why should we pray for the peace of Jerusalem? Psalm 122 clarifies this:

"I rejoiced with those who said unto me, Let us go to the house of the Lord. Our feet are standing in your gates, O Jerusalem. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love thee. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels" (verses 1-2; 6-7).

Now, the Hebrew word for peace is Shalom, but it means ever so much more than peace in the English tongue means to us. Shalom speaks to the total well-being of one's body with itself and with God. When David penned this Psalm, Jerusalem was not troubled with military concerns, but rather in keeping close to God. Shalom with God was good.

Jerusalem today remains special to God, but there is no Shalom. However, in a future day, God will bless all the earth from Jerusalem. If one goes to Jerusalem today he will not find peace. He will find a divided city in need of God's Shalom. There is tension and all sorts of problems in Jerusalem and Israel today. This is one reason we should pray for Jerusalem. When we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we are praying for Messiah's second advent, "Even so come, Lord Jesus" (Revelation 20).

Isaiah gives good reason for praying for Jerusalem, "I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth" (Isaiah 62:6-7). This, also, is an "Even so, come"

I have been an "Abraham" Covenent partner (Guarding the Walls of Zion) going over my tenth year and nothing I do gives me a greater sense of PEACE in my life even though I have 3 other partners; World Vision...On Wings of Eagles (aliyah)...TBN...and the United States General Assembly(s) of GOD. Ever since I was a teenager, Israel has been my heartbeat. My attorney is Jewish and he always laughs because I told him I pray for him always that Yahweh constantly guard his path coming and going and while awake and asleep. I think he thinks it's funny in a good kind of way. I send him cards on all of the holidays that even I honour. You could not have explained this better, ZephThree. GOD's PEACE and wisdom remain with you. Love you deeply in Christ, our Saviour!

Righteous Father, thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to empower Your ministers of the Gospel, Your evangelists, Your apostles, Your missionaries, Your ambassadors of Christ, to do the work You have called them to do. Because of Your Holy Spirit Your servants are able to be Your witness wherever You send them. (Acts 1:8)
Please help them to always be faithful to that important calling.

Please send more of these, Your servants, equip them, empower them, guide them, call them for Israel, to These chosen by YHWH the Father, (2 Chronicles 6:6)
These chosen ones by the Father, and the SON cried over. (Luke 19:41)
These chosen ones by the Father, and the Holy Spirit confirmed Your Word in Jerusalem. (Acts 1:4 - Acts 2:1-5)

We repent of each time that we have failed to share the faith with people who need to know You. May we never again let any such opportunity go by without giving a witness to Your Saving Grace.
Yeshua our Messiah, Your attitude reflects compassion on the lost at every opportunity. Equip the saints to be like You by going after those who are lost with Your love and compassion. Equip the saints to declare what they have seen and heard and learned to those in Jerusalem and throughout the lands of Israel, so they will be able to know You, their Messiah, and to fellowship with You and with Your people. (1 John 1:2)
Thank You, Abba Father, for the joy this brings.

Thank You for the fruit of the righteous which is a tree of life. Let us share that fruit with others, fully realizing that he or she who wins souls is wise. (Proverbs 11:30)
Fill us with Your wisdom. (James 3:17)

We want to be like many servants in Your Living Word who always put You first, and determined in their hearts to declare Your truth to all. (Job 15:17)
Let us invite each person to come to You as we decalre to others what You have done for our souls. (Psalms 66:16)

Thank You for letting us be a part of Your army, Father, commissioned to go forth in Your Name, declaring Your Glory among the lost and hurting, and Your wonders among all people. (Psalms 96:3)
Thank You too, for appointing us as Your ambassadors of reconciliation to encourage others to be reconciled with the Father YHWH and become citizens of Your Kingdom of heaven. Please equip Your called out ones; sent forth to your chosen ones in Jerusalem and throughout all the lands to represent You just as if You were representing Yourself.
(2 Corinthians 5:20)
Be pleased, Abba Father, to fulfill Your heart desire in and through these, Your faithful witnesses.
Bring Shalom to the place of Jerusalem and Israel.
Bring Shalom to the Jewish people in Jerusalem and throughout the world. (Romans 10:1)
Bring Shalom through The Prince of Shalom, Yeshua ha Moshiach, as He comes again. (Revelation 22:20)
"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to the Holy One of Israel for the Jewish people in Jerusalem and world wide is, that they might be saved." Amen

Righteous Father, we pray that You will Restore, Redeem, and Return. Restore the Land of Israel. Redeem the Jewish people, and Return for Your own through the Revelation of our Messiah, Yeshua ha Moshiach. Amen and Amen

"SHA-ALU SHALOM YIRUSHALAYIM" Alleluia!

Father GOD, in Jesus name, this is our petition: Holy Spirit, arise and guard the walls of Jerusalem, the City of David, and the City of our GOD. Lift up You standard against all enemies and foes who rush in like a flood to destroy her. Place a ring of fire from the throne of GOD around her and her people. We plead the blood of Jesus, our Messiah, on all Jews living on earth and petition for You to grant them the revelation and saving knowledge of WHO our Messiah is. Circumcise their human senses into supernatural discernment into the TRUTH and let that (Jesus) TRUTH set them free. Grant them PEACE and blessings. We ask all for Your glory and honour. Amen and Amen!

"Because I love Zion, because my heart yearns for Jerusalem, I will not cease to pray for her or to cry out to YHVH on her behalf until she shines forth in His righteousness and is glorious in His Salvation. The nations shall see your righteousness. Kings shall be blinded by your glory; and YHVH will confer on you a new name. He will hold you aloft in His hands for all to see - a splendid crown for the King of kings. Never again shall you be called "The GOD-forsaken Land" or the "Land that GOD Forgot" Your new name will be :The Land of YHVH's Delight" and "The Bride," for the LORD delights in you and will claim you as His own. Your children will care for you, O Jerusalem, with joy like that of a young man who marries a virgin; and YHVH will rejoice over you as a Bridegroom with His Bride.
O Jerusalem I have set intercessors on your walls who shall cry to YHVH all day and night for the fulfillment of His promises. Take no rest, all of you who pray, and give YHVH no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her respected and admired throughout the earth. The LORD has sworn to Jerusalem with all His integrity: "I will never again give you to your enemies; never again shall foreign soldiers come and take away your grain and wine. You raised it; you shall keep it, praising YHVH!
Within the Temple courts you yourselves shall drink the wine you pressed. Go out! Go out! Prepare the roadway for my people to return! Build the roads, pull out the boulders, raise the flag of Israel!"
See, the LORD has sent his messengers to every land and said, "Tell My people, I, the LORD your GOD, Am coming to save you and will bring you many gifts." And they shall be called, "The Holy People" and "The LORD's Redeemed" and Jerusalem shall be called "The Land of Desire" and "The City YHVH Has Blessed" ( Isaiah 62)Alleluia! Amen and Amen
