Default Pray for my disspirited husband

1/21/08
Thank you for all your prayers and in particular the Bible verses, with the teachings. They are, even now, propping me up. Quick update: my husband is getting better spiritually in that he repented and he told G-d that he didn't want to be made at G-d anymore. He is still expecting G-d to do something. But G-d seems to be silent. Our circumstances are not getting better. In fact, we have no idea how we are going to pay for next month's bills. He is discouraged in getting a job. And I am trying not to be negative as I am a negative person by nature. But at this point, it is totally depressing. thank you again for listening. It is a great kindness to me.

1/16/08
My husband came out to Mississippi following what we know, believe to be three prophetic dreams from God. Three years later, we are in debt, no where near fulfilling the vision, spiritually beat up, depressed and hopeless and given up.

He now doesn't want to follow Jesus as his master any more; he just want to go his own worldly way. this is because he feels that God has not provided or met our needs financially for these past years that we've been following him. (It is true, we have lived off our credit cards for groceries).

What he needs is mercy and for God to show up in a real big way. Please pray for God's mercy on me, because I have instigated some of this spiral downward cycles.

My husband has give up on God before when circumstances are desperate. God always does something. I think this may be a test we are failing. Please help us in prayer. Please intercede for us. Please pray for my husband.

Thanks.

I have prayed on your behalf. And you must feel abandoned ... yet He does not abandon you, knowing that He is with you every step of the way.

One thing i do is to ask the Lord for confirmation if i think something is His will. I ask as many confirmations as necessary until i am convinced it is not me but the Lord. It helps to realize that just because it is His will it does not mean easy and devoid of tribulations. The only reason why i ask for confirmation from the Lord is that in case of tribulation, i would stick with it no matter what.

If ever there was words of wisdom, understanding, instruction with encouragement that applies to so many dear Christians today, I would have to say All of the following words seem most to apply:

'For ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them.
(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
and so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels,
and to the assembly of God's firstborn children (whose names are written in heaven). You have come to a judge (the God of all people) and to the spirits of people who have God's approval and have gained eternal life.
and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better than that of Abel.
Be careful that you do not refuse to listen when God speaks. Your ancestors didn't escape when they refused to listen to God, who warned them on earth. We certainly won't escape if we turn away from God, who warns us from heaven.
When God spoke to your ancestors, his voice shook the earth. But now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also heaven."
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;
for our God is a consuming fire. Let love of the brethren continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body. Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?"
Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace,.." (Hebrews 12:18 through Hebrews 13:9)

'The Lord disciplines everyone He loves. He severely disciplines everyone He accepts as His child." (which is the meaning of Hebrews 12:6 - )"... "FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES."
Hebrews 12:6

'Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
THEREFORE: "You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.
Do not complain, brethren, neither complain against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door.
Brothers and sisters, follow the example of the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. They were patient when they suffered unjustly.
We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord's dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful. (Hebrews 5:7-10)

All the above seems to apply, Since The Bridegroom (LORD Jesus) - "He’s returning to a bride without spot or blemish (Eph 5:27), ~)~ HE is getting His Church ready, saints, HE is coming soon!

Dear Father please hear your daughter's cry for mercy for herself and especially for her husband. Give them the strength to get through this difficult time all the time knowing your will be done. You have nothing but the best for your children. Please come to their aid quickly. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

How often in times of trouble have you or someone around you said "well, God will never give you more than you can handle"? It's usually done in an attempt to comfort someone who's just had something pretty crappy happen to them. It could be anything from not getting a job they needed to meet their bills or a marriage/relationship breaking up or some kind of physical illness.

When you're in those situations it's nice to have a friend or someone who will try and shove that misconception upon you. It means someone on Earth actually cares about you and that provides comfort. However, that belief isn't something that God really said to us in his word. This belief seems to come from 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV):

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."

The verse doesn't say God won't put you in a situation where you can't handle the burden...it says that he won't let you be TEMPTED beyond what you can bear. There is a world of difference between the two situations. It's true that God will provide a way of escape in any tempting situation regardless of what your temptation may be...sex, drugs, alcohol, shopping, food, etc. That doesn't mean he's going to take away the empty feelings or hurt or frustration. Things that can really only be filled by Him.

What does God say about situations? Well, He never directly says it but one could make a case that "God won't give you more than He can handle" is an accurate description. That comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9(NIV):

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."

When we are facing painful situations it's usually because we're powerless to do something about it. We can't go out and make someone be our true love forever. (I'm not talking temporary one night things...I'm talking that kind of love you see in those romance movies on the Lifetime Network.) We can't just tell the cancer or other disease we may have to go away and it disappears. We can't walk into a business and tell the owner they're going to give us a job that will pay us what we deserve and they'll just do it. These are things that are out of our control but not God's control.

The question then becomes whether or not you'll trust God with everything and allow Him to use His strength on your behalf. It's not fun either because God's timing is not our timing. It leads to a lot of pain in our lives until we reach the point of being satisfied in just knowing He cares about it.

It's hard and while someday it may get easier there are times where we feel it's too much. That you want to drink a bottle of Drano to be literally as hollow inside and you feel in your spirit. You feel as if there's nothing left for you and you want to just lay down, sleep and never wake up. I can understand exactly what you mean because I've been there as well. Almost everyone has felt that way at some point.

The only thing I can say is that God said his power is made perfect in our weakness so acknowledge the weakness and just trust that when God finally decides to move and end the trial it's going to be better than we could hope to find ourselves. Even when it seems your unending trial is about to finally conclude...and you suddenly find yourself deeper in the valley than you were before...just realize He is faithful and He is there.

By : ISAIAH 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.

Amen! This "theology" that the Lord does not give you more than you can handle, is really non biblical, in my opinion. I believe that the Lord allows tough situations that we are really unable to handle in order that may pray to and cling to the Lord and depend on Him, and learn to trust Him because really there is no other way or choice. And as we pray and ask for grace to handle these trials, He gives as we ask. But we must ask. And we must be willing to bear .... since the trials do not just go away, but we grow through them.

We can all be brought low by G-d when our actions displease him but, if you confess your sins against others and, more importantly, against G-d, you can redeem yourself in the eyes of the Lord- it doesnt mean that the path to redemption will be easy or fast- just means that it will be possible.

I have been brought low for my arrogance, pride, and ingratitude in the face of the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed on my. I'm now in the process of trying to redeem myself in the eyes of the Lord- my situation has the potential to be very grave but I still have peace of mind. I have a friend who has also been brought low by G-d for the many wicked things she has done to other in Her life. She has not sought forgiveness and has chose to blame others rather than repent and change Her life- she has no peace of mind and I fear that Her trials will become worse as time goes on.

I think that G-d gives you the peace of mind to Handel any burden He places on you if you ask him to. In any event I pray that G-d give your an indication of what He wants you to do in your situation and blesses your Husband with renewed faith. Amen.
