I would like to have the urge to do drugs to leave me! my life is going down hill! I am and have been suffering from depression and feelings of being cut off from god for most of my life and really want some direction and sense of purpose, Ive been hurting for much too long now! please what can I do to be forgiven and helped?

Dear Beloved Friend, i have lifted up a prayer on your behalf.

If you truly want to be forgiven, ask Jesus to forgive you and to enter your heart:

"Lord Jesus, i ask that you would forgive all of my sins, and the sins of my ancestors. My life is too wretched for me to bear, please enter my heart and begin your work of redemption in me, i surrender my life to You for You to mold me and lead me into the path of righteousness. Amen."

And do read the following excerpt from Isaiah, it will help you to understand what God wants from us and how to obtain peace in life and favor from God (And i hope i do not have to say that God keeps his promises...):

"Cry loudly, do not hold back; Raise your voice like a trumpet, And declare to My people their transgression, And to the house of Jacob their sins. Yet they seek Me day by day, and delight to know My ways, As a nation that has done righteousness, And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God. They ask Me for just decisions, They delight in the nearness of God. 'Why have we fasted and Thou dost not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and Thou dost not notice?' Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire, And drive hard all your workers. Behold, you fast for contention and strife and to strike with a wicked fist. You do not fast like you do today to make your voice heard on high. Is it a fast like this which I choose, a day for a man to humble himself? Is it for bowing one's head like a reed, And for spreading out sackcloth and ashes as a bed? Will you call this a fast, even an acceptable day to the LORD?

Is this not the fast which I choose, To loosen the bonds of wickedness, To undo the bands of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free, And break every yoke? Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry, And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your recovery will speedily spring forth; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; You will cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.' If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, And if you give yourself to the hungry, And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness, And your gloom will become like midday. And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.

And those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot From doing your own pleasure on My holy day, And call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the LORD honorable, And shall honor it, desisting from your own ways, From seeking your own pleasure, And speaking your own word, Then you will take delight in the LORD, And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, For the mouth of the LORD has spoken." (Isaiah 58)

I will be Praying that you ask Jesus to forgive you of your past sins. I agree with Land-of-Fire when she said:

"If you truly want to be forgiven, ask Jesus to forgive you and to enter your heart".

The Blood of Jesus shed at Calvary will cover your sins and Jesus will set you free. And your sins will never to be remembered. He will take away the desire to do drugs. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I will be praying for you in your time of need. I, too, believe you need to ask for forgiveness and open your heart to Jesus. He is always there even when your world seems to be at it's worst. He is beside you all the way you just need to look to Him. I know this can be easier said than done at times and that's why you need the strength of a church and it's fellow Believers behind you.

I will say a prayer for you now. I think that after you ask for forgiveness from Jesus, you also need to forgive yourself. It will take a weight off your shoulders. And understand, you will likely still feel the urge for drugs, but be confident that the Lord is providing for you all the strength you need to overcome them.

I will be praying for you. Admiting you have a problem is a big step. Trust if CHRIST to help you. HE will make you strong.

You are stronger than you think. Look where you are? You must pray to god for foregiveness, strength, and power. If you seek it, it shall come. Your challenge is to fight off the demons who take hold on you and turn to our heavenly father through prayer, hope, faith and trust. I believe in you, you CAN do this.

God of mercy,you know the secrets of all human hearts,for you know who is just and you forgive the repentant sinner.Hear my prayer in the midst of destruction;give me patience and hope,so that under your protection and with you as my guide,I may one day be reunited with my family and friends in peace, tranquility, and love.Grant this through Christ our Lord.
