| | | To cope Hi, I have it too. There are pills that will reduce the symptoms, like Neurontin, but they do have side effects (weight gain, spacy feeling mentally, water retention, etc). Acupunture also helps without any side effects, but it may take 5 or 6 treatments to feel any improvement - it's not really pain management, like the pills - it actually directs your body to repair the damage, so you feel better as a result of the healing, not because of pain intervention. Find someone good though - inquire about reputation and background and such. I only use acupuncture now, no more pills at all and the pain is greatly reduced from what it used to be. Extra B vitamins and Omega 3s help your body heal from this too as the fight inflamation and provide resources your body needs to repair itself with. I don't go to this site - I just came across it in a news alert because you wrote about TM. So no use writing back to me here. Good luck. |

Rep Power: 1 | | I will be Praying for You. I'm very sorry to hear you are going through pain, as I know being uncomfortable and worrying, does not feel good. I will pray for your healing, as I have prayed for my brother's, and other's here. God cured my brother from his Hepatitis C, about a few weeks after I registered here ( at praying.org ), I was informed he no longer had this disease, and you cannot imagine the joy that this news brought me and my family. You really must Believe and have Hope. My brother Thanks everyone here for their prayers, as well as mine, and is getting his life back in order. I will be praying for your healing and comfort. I hate to hear when people are in pain, no matter what type it may be. I am here for you, as well as other member's here. God, please Bless this person with Your Strength, Comfort, and Faith, in their time of need, as I and other's have Seen the Miracles You have preformed. Amen.
God Bless,
Jess |

| | | I have TM, too Someone alerted me to your prayer request. I have TM, too. I don't have constant pain, just occasional, but still have problems with balance and numbness and things just not working right.
There is a TM bulletin board where you can find others with TM here: TMA Forum :: Index
I am on the Transverse Myelitis Internet Club -- it's been great to have others to talk to who understand what I am saying and how I am feeling. You find find it here: Transverse Myelitis Internet Club
I will be praying for you!

| | | I have TM Hi-
I will pray for you. It seems that TM has many different forms. I was diagnosed in early 2003 when my arms started to burn and I couldn't put any clothing near my skin. Then I started to stumble and drag my feet. When I started to feel completely numb from the waist down, the neurology team at my local hospital gave me an emergency MRI. AT first they thought there was a growth or inflammation on my cervical spine. They finally diagnosed the TM (AFTER I DID FROM READING ON-LINE) but it was very extensive, from cervical through thoracic. I had several episodes where I actually fell and couldn't walk for a short period. However, with the prayers of my church family I started getting around with a cane. With large doses of steroids the inflammation disappeared. I now lead a fairly normal life although I still experience pain from the chest down. It's weird pain, sometimes burning, sometimes numbness and tingling, sometimes my legs are so heavy I can't lift them. I use neurontin for nerve pain, celebrex because I also have Sjogrens Syndrome which causes arthritis type pain, and imuran, which is an immunosuppressant because my TM was caused by the immune system response. I have also used Percocet since I went off the steroids in late 2003, and I teach high school full time. I could not function without these meds, but after reading about acupuncture, I am going to explore that option.
I hope you get through this and have no residual effects.
In Christ's Love,
