Dear Hope:
Betrayal is a terrible thing. Being betrayed can bring the most evil and un-G-dly feelings out of the person who's been betrayed. Your prayer for an elimination of the anger you feel towards those who've betrayed you and your sons will not be effective, however, unless you simultaneously ask G-d to allow you to forgive them.
I know that this seems counterintuitive at first- after all you've been betrayed, lied to, treated cruelly, and probably many other things that I'm not even aware of. You may ask: "I can understand praying not to be angry, but why pray to forgive?"
You must forgive because the anger is only a symptom- the root cause is that you have not forgiven. Forgive and the anger you feel will evaporate in a nanosecond.
G-d please allow Hope to forgive these two people who have treated her cruelly and wronged her terribly. Watch over Hope and her children and shield them from all evil and wickedness. Amen |
